Overview

The SNMP Config page can be used to modify the default values for querying network devices via SNMP during Discovery. Network Discovery, Rewalk, and Manual Device Addition all feature an SNMP Options section within the Advanced Options. This section of the Discovery configuration defines how Statseeker queries devices via SNMP during Discovery, and the default settings can be overridden on a per-Discovery basis.

SNMP Config allows you to modify the default settings for some of the options presented in the Discovery SNMP Options.

Updating SNMP Options Setting

Note: Modifications made to this configuration file will impact our server's ability to discover your network. Contact Customer Support prior to modifying this file.

The default values presented in the SNMP Options can be modified by setting a series of key:value pairs in the SNMP Config page. The mapping between the setting names in SNMP Options and the values to set in SNMP Config is presented in the table below.

Discovery SNMP Options SNMP Config Description
Maximum Simultaneous Walks max_output_files The maximum number of concurrent SNMP walks (Default=5000)
Max Repetitions max_repetitions Number of objects returned during each step of walking a device (Default=50)
Number Of Retries retry_count How many times a failed SNMP walk will be retried for a given request (Default=2)
Walk Timeout req_timeout Maximum number of seconds to wait for a response to a SNMP walk request (Default=5)
Max Simultaneous Device Walks window_size Maximum number of SNMP walks that can run concurrently on a single device (Default=10)
Only exists in SNMP Config reduce_max_repetition_on_timeout When enabled, max_repetitions is halved each time a request needs to be resent

  • 0 = disabled
  • 1 = enabled (default)
Only exists in SNMP Config min_repetition_on_reduce_timeout The limit for max_repetitions at which GETBULK requests are replaced by GETNEXT requests (Default=10)

The syntax for setting these values is 'KEY' 'VALUE'.

Example

'retry_count' '3'
'max_repetitions' '100'
'window_size' '15'
'req_timeout' '10'
